Inspired to Stay Connected
Social media is not always the beneficial tool that it can be. On the 218th day of 2017, for instance, we learned of a Little League Softball team disqualified from the Junior League Championship Game for a profane picture posted on SnapChat. But, on 8/6/17, I would like to focus on how social media inspires me, at times. At Church, this morning, we celebrated and sent off a member who is going to be Provost of a university in the UAE. It is something I could never conceive doing myself (heck, look how far I have (not) moved in my life. But it is an exciting time for him and I am happy that he joined FB, we connected, and I also was able to connect him with a dear friend and colleague who is also working in UAE Higher Education. I am inspired to keep using social media for as much good as possible. There is a lot of bad in the world, and a lot manifests on social media, but I am going to try to turn those tables and be on the good side of the equation. May others be inspired to learn from the softball team's actions and do the same.
